Texas Hill Country: Sage Hill Inn & Spa

Texas Hill Country spans across Central and South Texas, encompassing a number of small Texas towns and over 50 wineries. Connecting the towns are miles of highways and backroads winding through hilly terrain characterized by diverse vegetation, caverns, and rivers. Whether seeking out authentic small-town Texas experiences, award-winning wineries, or pristine nature, Texas Hill Country offers a memorable getaway for everyone. On my most recent trip to Austin, I escaped the big city to stay at the Sage Hill Inn & Spa.

An Escape to Texas Hill Country

Sage Hill Inn & Spa is a luxury boutique hotel situated in the heart of Texas Hill Country. Just 25 miles from Austin, Sage Hill Inn & Spa is remarkably convenient from the city, yet feels worlds away.

Set atop a hill and offering unmatched views of Texas Hill Country, the hotel overlooks 88 acres of nearly untouched nature, plus hiking and biking trails. Sage Hill Inn & Spa also welcomes guests with a year-round outdoor pool, a fire pit with Adirondack chairs, and an on-site restaurant.

Luxury Rooms

With only 16 rooms, Sage Hill Inn & Spa aims to create a tranquil retreat that still meets the diverse needs of its guests. The majority of the rooms are King, with two of the rooms expanding into Suites with a living room. Every room is exceptionally unique. Luxury amenities might include a fireplace, whirlpool tub, walk-in rain shower, and more. Additionally, for larger groups wishing to stay together, Sage Hill Inn & Spa has 2-bedroom and 3-bedroom cottages near the main Inn.

The Ranch House

During my visit, I stayed at The Ranch House. Thoughtfully designed, The Ranch House is a 3-bedroom, 2 ½ bath home that was exceptionally comfortable. Although I was anticipating a kitchen, the state-of-the-art appliances and stocked fridge full of complimentary local Texas beverages were a pleasant surprise that exceeded my expectations.

The Ranch House also featured a dining room and living room, both divided by a wood-burning fireplace that could be seen from both sides. I also had access to an outdoor fireplace and private cedar hot tub.

BEST Dining IN TEXAS HILL COUNTRY: Sage Hill Inn & Spa

The best dining in Texas Hill Country is actually at the inn itself! I might not have the credentials to make such a bold claim, but my taste buds were in absolute heaven throughout the dining experience provided by the Sage Hill Inn & Spa. Serving nearly 100% farm-to-table, the restaurant chefs source fresh ingredients from the Inn garden, as well as local, ethical farms. Moreover, I thoroughly enjoyed the extensive wine list and Texas craft beers.

The Garden Spa

Next to the main Inn garden is the Garden Spa. Wanting to embrace all the luxurious amenities at Sage Hill Inn & Spa, I indulged in a therapeutic deep tissue massage. The masseuse provided much-needed tension relief for my ever-stressed out muscles. In addition to a range of massage therapies, the Garden Spa menu includes body treatments, facials, and combination spa packages.

Activities at SAGE HILL INN & SPA

The Sage Hill Inn & Spa is a boutique hotel that provides guests with the chance to enjoy hiking and biking trails, as well as swim in the pool surrounded by live oaks. A short walk from the main Inn is a cliff-top overlook serving even more stunning views of Texas Hill Country. Afterward, relax by the open outdoor fire pit, unwind in the hot tub, and play lawn games.

Things to Do Nearby IN TEXAS HILL COUNTRY

There are many things to do Texas Hill Country beyond the Sage Hill Inn & Spa. If you drive about 15 minutes, you will reach the quaint town of Wimberley. Explore the galleries, shops, and taste local Texas Hill Country wine. Also, check out the Duchman Family Winery. Only 8 minutes from Sage Hill Inn, Duchman Family Winery is one of the top wine destinations in Texas. HGTV even announced Duchman Family Winery as one of the 20 most picturesque wineries in the entire country.

A bit further away, but well worth the drive, is Hamilton Pool Preserve. The quarter-mile hike down into the canyon is very easy. At the bottom of the well-maintained trail is a 50-foot waterfall that feeds into Hamilton Pool.
